The ongoing 4-match Border-Gavaskar Test series between Team India and Australia continues to make headlines. After an ugly controversy that erupted a few days ago, team India has plunged into yet another shock ahead of the upcoming Third Test match against Team Australia, as  KL Rahul, team India’s wicket-keeper injured himself.

The Board of Control in Cricket in India (BCCI) informed that KL Rahul has sprained his left wrist while batting in the nets during a practice session on Saturday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

After the further check-up, it was revealed that KL Rahul would need a lot of time to recover from the injury and hence won’t be able to take part in the remaining two Tests of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The injured player has been advised to take rest and to get treated for three weeks before he can play again. In order to recover well from the injury, KL Rahul will head back to India and will start his rehabilitation of the injury at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

KL Rahul’s injury has come out as a huge blow for Team India as the team is already missing the services of Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, and Umesh Yadav, due to injury while skipper Virat Kohli is on paternity leave.

However, reports have come in that KL Rahul’s absence wouldn’t affect the cricket team as much and would only give an opportunity to Mayank Agarwal to continue playing in the remaining two games as well.

As for the wicket-keeping spots, team India has options like Wriddhiman Saha and Rishabh Pant to make up for Rahul’s absence.
