Former Indian cricketer and the star player of Chennai Super Kings star player Suresh Raina recently talked about his absence from the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League.

Suresh Raina hasn’t taken part in competitive cricket ever since he turned for CSK in the IPL 2019 final. His fans were waiting anxiously to see him back on-field, however, Raina, who had traveled with the CSK contingent to the UAE for the IPL, left everyone in shock after he pulled out of the tournament and came back to India before the start of the tournament.

Even though there were some wild speculations about why he returned back to India after a rift with the team management of CSK.

Recently, talking to the Times of India, Suresh Raina opened about the whole incident for the first time and has claimed that he has no regrets after making the decision to fly back home. He said that he spent time with his kids and how he needed to be there with his family, after a heartbreaking incident took place. He revealed:

“Why would there be any regret? (On missing out on IPL) I spent time with my kids and was there for my family.I really wanted to come back to my family. There was an incident in Punjab, and they needed me (his uncle and cousins in Pathankot were murdered during a robbery).”

He added:

“My wife needed me here, too, during the pandemic. I have been playing for 20 years, so I know I will do it again. But when your family needs you, you have to be there. I felt that was the wise thing to do at that time.”

There’s no denying the fact that CSK missed the presence of Suresh Raina in the latest IPL as MS Dhoni-led side failed to make it to the playoffs. He also made it clear that he would be a part of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.
