India’s Test specialist Ajinkya Rahane will be seen leading the Indian cricket team in the rest of the three test games, in the absence of Virat Kohli, who has been granted paternity leave.
Recently, during a virtual press conference, Ajinkya Rahane revealed the conversation he had with the skipper Virat Kohli after their horrible mix-up that led to Virat’s run-out during the first test match. Rahane revealed that he had apologized to Virat after that incident. He said:
“It was a tough one. We were going really going well at that time. After the day’s play, I went up to him and said sorry and he was all okay. Such things happen cricket, we got to move on,”

Ainkya Rahane also talked about the meeting team had with Virat Kohli before he left for India. Rahane revealed that Kohli advised Rahane to back their strengths. He said:
“We met Virat before he left, we had a discussion on how to go about things. He told us to play as a team and back our strengths,”

When asked about whether Rahane will take the help of Virat Kohli in the middle of the series, Rahane made it clear that he doesn’t want to disturb him during the special moment for his family. He said:
“I don’t want to disturb him now. This is a very special moment for his family so yeah, don’t want to disturb him,”
Ajinkya Rahane sounded confident of overcoming the debacle they suffered in Adelaide. He said:
“Each and every individual in this team is really capable of doing well, so it’s really a challenge for the captain and management to select the 11. We had just one bad hour (in Adelaide). It’s about staying positive, backing your own ability and batting in partnerships,”
