Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has had an incredible career. He is a phenomenal cricketer and has been a phenomenal skipper for team India. He is regarded as the greatest skipper of all time as he took the Indian cricket team to the number 1 position and led India to numerous memorable triumphs. He is still the only captain to have won all the three ICC trophies – ODI World Cup (2011), T20 World Cup (2007), and the Champions Trophy (2013).
MSD announced his retirement from international cricket earlier this year in August. Even though Mahi has retired from the game, he is still ruling the hearts of his millions of fans.
On Wednesday, MS Dhoni completed 16 years in the cricket world and the cricket fraternity went crazy. From cricket experts, cricketers to fans, everyone flooded social media with their amazing tweets and tributes for the legendary skipper.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) also took to their social media and made the fans go down memory lane as they shared a video from the 2014 T20 World Cup highlighting Dhoni’s ‘sweet gesture’ for Virat Kohli in the semi-final clash against South Africa.
During the game, Virat Kohli defended the last ball of the 19th over to give Virat Kohli, who was batting on 68 runs, the opportunity to finish the game as team India needed just one run to book a place in the final match. That moment perfectly describes how selfless Dhoni was as a skipper. Sharing the video, ICC wrote:
“When MS Dhoni let Virat Kohli lay the finishing touch ?
