The Indian vice-captain KL Rahul has found himself at the receiving end of criticism after he cracked an ‘insensitive’ joke about the injury of Australian batsman David Warner.

Well, the Australian star batsman was seen in some tremendous form in the first two ODIs of the ongoing three-match ODI series against India. Though he wasn’t able to score a century yet, but he has played an instrumental role in the success of Australia in the ongoing ODI series.

In the first ODI, which Australia won by 66 runs after defending their target of 374 runs successfully, Warner scored 69 runs. In the second game, which the Australians won by 51 runs, David Warner played a powerful knock and notched up 83 runs.

However, in the second game, the team suffered a big blow after their star batsman David Warner suffered a groin injury. It happened when Shikhar Dhawan pushed Hazlewood’s delivery towards the straight boundary, where David Warner made a fantastic effort to stop the ball. Though he saved three runs, but he was injured and didn’t continue the game from thereon.

During the post-match conference, Aaron Finch stated that his opening partner may skip the upcoming fixture at the Manuka Oval. India’s star keeper-batsman KL Rahul also talked about Warner’s injury. However, he cracked an insensitive joke while talking about it. He said:

“We don’t know how bad his injury is. It would be nicer if he gets injured for a long time. One of their main batsmen. It is not nice to wish it for anyone but it would be good for the team. If his injury takes a long time, it would be good for our team,”

Well, his comments didn’t go down well with the fans on social media, who are now slamming KL Rahul left, right, and center for his ‘insensitive remarks’ on Warner’s injury. There are many who questioned the sportsmanship spirit in KL Rahul.

Here, check out the reactions of Twitterati on this:

I think Indian vc needs have a better taste in humour
I mean it’s an injury, how can someone even mock on it
Play well instead of giving these kinda statements https://t.co/ZamZ2lszeN

And KL Rahul is a sportsman. He is wishing David Warner remains injured for a long time.
Where’s the sportsman spirit?
Despicable! https://t.co/wzuBMlNpAd
