On Friday, India’s sensational all-rounder Hardik Pandya finally opened up about his plans of bowling again. Well, it was in the year 2019, when Hardik Pandya had a back injury and as he returned to competitive cricket, he has only been playing as a specialist batsman and hasn’t bowled ever since.

In fact, in the just-concluded edition of the IPL, Hardik didn’t bowl at all for the Mumbai Indians and played as a pure batsman.

In the first ODI match, Hardik Pandya gave a powerful performance of 90 runs, however, couldn’t take his team to the winning side. After India lost the match by 66 runs, during the post-match presentation, Hardik Pandya was asked if playing purely as a batsman makes any difference, Hardik said:

“(It does) not make much difference. I believe in having both skills. I like to back myself and have that confidence where whatever role is given to me I try to fulfill that to the best of my ability.”

When he was asked about when he would get ready to bowl. But he said that he needs to be fit enough as he is looking at long-term goals like the World Cups and does not want to rush in. He said:

“It is a process. I am looking at a long-term goal time when I want to be 100 per cent of my bowling capacity for the most important games — the World Cups are coming, the most crucial series. I am looking at long-term plan, not short-term plan where I’ll try to exhaust myself and maybe have something else (injury) which is not there,”
