Sachin Tendulkar and Shoaib Akhtar are two of the greatest cricketers to have ever played the game of cricket. While Sachin Tendulkar is regarded as one of the greatest batsmen to have ever played the game, on the other hand, Shoaib Akhtar is regarded as a legendary bowler. A battle between these two cricketers was seen as the ultimate test of their talents. Fans from both countries used to look up to the battles featuring both the legends.
Almost every Indian cricket fan remembers the six that Sachin Tendulkar smashed on the Shoaib Akhtar’s delivery at the 2003 World Cup. The iconic six is one of the favorite memory of every Indian cricket fan, however, seems like even Shoaib Akhtar has also not been able to forget that six. He feels that he had his big moments against Sachin Tendulkar but everyone forgets all those because of that six.
Recently, in an interaction, Shoaib Akhtar talked about the time when he faced Sachin Tendulkar for the first time. Talking about the same, he said:
“I heard Sachin was the god. I said this is a god? Iss ki khairiyat nahi. He didn’t recognize me, and I didn’t recognize him. He was in his own attitude and I was in my attitude. But I wanted to get him out on the first ball and that happened,”
He also talked about the T20 World Cup getting postponed and pointed his guns towards the BCCI. He even dragged the ‘Monekygate’ controversy to make his point. He said:
“Sometimes they get easy wickets in Melbourne, at times someone calls another person a monkey but gets saved, the talk goes to boycotting the series. I am asking the Australians, where are their ethics?”
He added:
“Asia Cup could have definitely happened, it would have been a great chance for India and Pakistan to play against each other. There are many reasons behind this. I don’t want to get into that. T20 World Cup could have also happened, but I had already said this earlier that they won’t let it happen. IPL should not be damaged, let the World Cup go to hell,”
