It was earlier this year, when former cricketer and commentator, Sanjay Manjrekar was dropped from the commentary panel by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He is one of the most experienced commentators around the world, however, his exclusion from the team hasn’t come as a surprise to the Indian cricket fans as he was under the scanner for a long time because of his controversial remarks on cricketers.
While BCCI never made any official statement regarding his exclusion from the team, but Manjrekar was never a part of the panel which had traveled to Dharamsala for the opening ODI against South Africa, which confirmed that he was sacked. Sanjay Manjrekar is now eyeing a comeback to the commentary panel for the upcoming edition of the IPL.
Well, according to a report in ‘The Times Of India’, Sanjay Manjrekar has written to the BCCI and has promised to ‘adhere to the guidelines’. This is his second email to BCCI. He wrote:
“Respected members of the Apex Council, hope you all keeping well. You are already in receipt of the email I sent to explain my position as commentator. With the IPL dates announced, bcci.tv will pick its commentary panel soon. I will be happy to work as per the guidelines laid by you. After all, we are working on what is essentially your production. Last time may be there was not enough clarity on this issue. Thanks very much, Regards,”
Now since Sanjay Manjrekar has written to the BCCI twice, it remains to be seen whether the BCCI includes him in the commentary panel.
