In one of the Instagram live sessions, Southpaw wasn’t reluctant in mentioning the lack of support from the board and the team management. He also referred to the example of how Rohit Sharma’s career has unfolded as an Indian cricketer. Imam felt that India backed Rohit during his early years and allowed him to prosper at the international stage, which is missing in Pakistan cricket.

India trusted with Rohit Sharma and he came good later: Imam

Pakistan team has been in the firing line for quite some time now. They had an awful outing in the World Cup last year and have also failed to produce consistent performances against the good teams. Imam ul-Haq, who has been in the team for nearly two years now, reckons that players are worried over getting dropped from the team.

“Our team has a fear of failure, although that is my personal assessment, which is why players don’t perform consistently. They are worried about getting dropped from the side after two or three poor performances,” Imam was quoted as saying during an Instagram Live session, reported by Cricket Pakistan.

The 24-year old was of the opinion that demands trust from the board for players to succeed at the highest level. He took the example of Rohit Sharma and how he has emerged as one of the world’s best batsmen to put across his views. He felt that the Indian opener didn’t perform well at the outset but he was backed by his team to prove himself as a player.

“Communication gap between the board and players also results in inconsistency. This is not the case with other teams around the world. If you look at the example of Rohit Sharma, who did not do well initially in his career but India trusted him and he came good later,” he added.
