Virat Kohli Slammed The Indian Cricketers For Their Poor Show Against Australia In First ODI

It wasn’t a very good day for the Virat Kohli led Indian cricket team on-field as they were completely outplayed by the Australian cricket team in all the departments of the match, failing miserably. The Australian cricket team registered a thumping win against team India by 10 wickets in the first of three-match of the ongoing ODI series, dominating the series by 1-0.

Virat Kohli’s decision to send KL Rahul ahead of him didn’t go down well as it was expected. Ahead of the match, Virat Kohli had hinted that he can tamper his batting position to support the talented and in-form batsmen like Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul. In the match today, Virat did the same as he made space for KL Rahul in the playing XI for Australia by demoting himself down the batting order.

The Australian bowlers gave a hard time to the Indian batsmen and bundled their wickets in quick successions. Shikhar Dhawan ((74) and KL Rahul (47) tried to get back the momentum of the match, however, as soon as KL Rahul was dismissed the batting line-up of the team India slipped down.

During Australia’s innings as well, the Indian bowlers failed to restrict Australians to chase the target. The Australian skipper, Aaron Finch, and David Warner, both the Australian cricketers smashed the Indian bowlers to all the corners of the ground as they delivered a stunning performance that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

Aaron Finch and David Warner’s unbeaten 258-run stand made their team lead the series by 1-0. David Warner scored 128 runs off 112 balls, smashing 17 fours and 3 sixes. On the other hand, Aaron Finch scored 110 runs off 114 balls, where he hit the Indian bowlers for 13 fours and 2 sixes.

After the match, Virat Kohli talked about the performance of Team India, he was clearly not happy at all. However, he credited the Australians for their wonderful performance.

Slamming the Indian cricketers for their performance, Virat Kohli said:

We were totally outplayed in all departments. It’s a strong Australian team, if you don’t play well, they could hurt you. We saw that with the bat in hand. We didn’t get enough runs. I thought we were too respectful at certain phases and it cost us. Can’t do that against a team like Australia. This is a chance for the team to bounce back but as I said, credit to Australia today.”

He added:

International cricket is always priceless. The experience you get in any format does well for you when you play other formats. The game time you get is important. If you perform in any format, it gives you confidence for the other formats. Today was one of those days when we weren’t allowed to get into the game at all. (On him at no.4) We’ve had this discussion many times in the past as well, due to the way KL has been batting.”

Virat Kohli concluded by saying that he is allowed to experiment a bit to test the batting line-up. He said:

We’ve tried to fit him into the team. Having said that, it hasn’t gone our way when I have batted at no.4, so we have to see how it goes. At the same time, it’s about giving opportunities to the other guys. People need not panic for just this one game. I think I am allowed to experiment a bit.”
