Pictures: Anushka Sharma Takes A Walk At Eden Gardens Dressed As Jhulan Goswami

Biopics are the new rage in Bollywood. Over these years, we have seen many movies based on the lives of prominent people and sportspersons. From MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Milkha Singh, Mary Kom to Mohammed Azharuddin, the Indian audience have witnessed some really top-notch biopics in recent times based on the lives of sports stars.

2020 has a few big biopics lined up ahead, including the likes of ’83’ which is based on the historic win of Indian cricket team during the 1983 world cup, Saina Nehwal’s untitled biopic and Mithali Raj’s untitled biopic.

Besides this, another big biopic is on its way. Bollywood actress and the wife of Indian skipper, Anushka Sharma is busy shooting for her new project which is a biopic based on the life of  Indian women team’s bowling legend Jhulan Goswami.

The movie is titled Chakdah Express, in which Anushka Sharma will be seen playing the role of Jhulan Goswami. On Sunday, the actress was spotted donning the Indian jersey and practicing at the iconic Eden Gardens for the shoot. Looking stunning in the Indian jersey, Anushka sported a similar hairstyle as Jhulan during the shoot.

Anushka Sharma was even joined by Jhulan Goswami at the cricket ground, where the actress shot a scene of entering the stadium with 10 players. The shoot went on till 5 am in the morning, however, Anushka got free at 4 am and left for Mumbai.

Talking about Jhulan Goswami, she is one of the finest pacers to have played the women’s game for India. Jhulan Goswami debuted in the year 2002 and in the year 2007, Jhulan was awarded the ICC Women’s Player of Year award. She later got a postage stamp issued in her honor.

In the year 2018, Jhulan Goswami became the first bowler to take 200 wickets in Women’s ODIs. Having retired from T20Is in 2018, so far, Jhulan has taken 225 wickets in 182 matches in ODIs, 40 wickets in 10 matches in Tests, with three five-wicket hauls.
