Pant’s mimicry: Despite showing a lot of promise with the bat yesterday, as soon as Pujara was removed early in the morning today, things started falling out like a house of cards for India. From 215 for 3, India was bundled out for a paltry 278 with absolutely zero resistance on day 4 of the third Test.
Pujara was removed for 91 that ticked off the avalanche of India wickets as the next man to follow suit was Virat Kohli on 55. It didn’t take much for the English bowlers to mop up the likes of Rahane and Pant and India unraveled at a speed faster than light.
In the middle of all the grave unfolding on the pitch, Rishabh Pant pulled off a Steven Smith at the non-striker’s end while Ajinkya Rahane was facing Anderson at the other.
Bored off the happening around him, Pant was shadow batting at the non-striker’s end while Anderson was in his bowling stride. However, the funnier side of the same was a quick realization that Pant had and the flash in which he turned at the other end to notice what exactly followed.
This didn’t sit well with the Indian fans as they were furious about Pant’s casual approach. They were angry about the fact that in case if Pant failed to flip around and Anderson went up in an appeal, to whom exactly would have Rahane turned for a DRS consultation?
Twitter was split up into two factions surrounding this awkward situation of Pant. A few believed that he was just being himself, one of the most chirpy and animated characters on the field while others believed that he should be doing better when it comes to being responsible under crucial circumstances like this.
