India didn’t enjoy a great start, as Shubman Gill was dismissed on a duck in the second over of the match. After a short partnership between Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara, England took two quick wickets. Cheteshwar Pujara departed on the score of 21, whereas Moeen Ali dismissed Virat Kohli on a 5-balls duck.

Rohit, along with Ajinkya Rahane, curbed India’s off-track innings and put them under control. Rohit Sharma scored his seventh Test century, whereas Ajinkya Rahane registered a decent half-century on the turning track of Chepauk. Hence, India are looking set to make a fighting first-innings total in the second test.

Sanjay Manjrekar Praised Rohit Sharma On Twitter:

Rohit gathered attention from cricket fans from all over the world. Several cricketers and fans praised the Hitman on social media for his crucial knock of 161 on the first day of the second Test. Sanjay Manjrekar, the former Indian cricketer, also took his Twitter account to show his felicity on Rohit’s marvellous performance in the match.

Sanjay wrote, “That Rohit 100 was so from the Sehwag school of batting! Set his own agenda irrespective of conditions & situation.”

This innings, indeed, was a masterclass on a turning pitch. Virender Sehwag used to tear apart the spinners, and Rohit did the same. This innings was surely Rohit’s one of the best knock in Test career.
