England have stunned one and all with their near-perfect performance in the first Test of the ongoing series against India. England’s captain Joe Root, playing in his 100th Test, led from the front and scored a brilliant double-hundred in the first innings and put England in a very strong position.

Root, as touring captain, was under a lot of pressure before the start of the series because a majority of the fans in India and across the world were hoping that India would easily bring England down on the slow and turning pitches. But, much to their surprise, England played together as a unit and outplayed India in all three formats of the game.

This win has sent a shockwave among the Indian cricket fans because they were very confident before the start of the series, as Team India was coming into this series on the back of a brilliant show against the Aussies Down Under. However, things will change now because England have pushed India on the back foot and left them with much to ponder before the second Test.

One of the most popular cricket statisticians in the world, Mr. Mohandas Menon shared an interesting piece of stats to highlight the significance and magnitude of England’s victory in the first Test. Mr. Menon tweeted that it is India’s only fourth defeat at home in the last 10 years.

Team India will have to regroup together before the second Test and make sure that they put their best foot forward. This series is very important for India as their ticket to the final of the ICC World Test Championship depends on how they are going to perform in the next three matches. Indian cricket fans would be hoping for a huge turnaround and they would be rallying around their boys.
