India vs England 2016: Ashwin, Jadeja and Jayant likely to be rested for ODIs

Some media reports are suggesting that India are likely to rest the spin-trio of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Jayant Yadav for the upcoming One Day International (ODI) series against England.

As per the latest reports, MS Dhoni is likely to rest India’s successful spin trio including Ashwin, Jadeja and Jayant for the entire series, just like he did in the New Zealand ODIs.

The decision is taken citing the upcoming Test matches against Bangladesh and Australia, hence selectors don’t want their ever-present spinner to encounter injuries. While Ashwin and Jadeja lead India’s bowling in the recently concluded 5-match Test series against England, Jayant Yadav gave goober support to his senior partners. Yadav also showed good character with the bat and even scored his first Test hundred in the series.

The upcoming ODI series between India and England will be very critical for MS Dhoni, as there would a lot of pressure on him after Virat Kohli’s brilliant show in the Test series as India’s captain. Ashwin has been India’s best spinner in the last 18 months or so and his absence from the ODI squad will be a big whole to fill for any other spinner who comes in.
