India’s young batsman Karun Nair became only the second innings cricketer to score a triple-hundred in Test cricket. Nair joined Virender Sehwag in India’s ‘300 club’ in the first innings of the fifth Test between India and England in Chennai.

Karun Nair came in to bat at no. 5 and formed a brilliant partnership with KL Rahul, who also batted brilliant and scored 199 runs. After Rahul’s dismissal, Nair carried on with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja and made England’s bowling attack look ordinary. Nair took special liking to English spinners and kept sweeping them for boundaries.

During his innings, Nair broke and equalled many records. He also became the quickest to score a double ton for India – doing it in his third innings. Vinod Kambli did so in his fourth innings. He reached yet another landmark by an Indian batsman with highest individual score against England, previous best was by Virat Kohli (235).

One of the best parts of Karun Nair’s innings was the maturity with which he batted and celebrated his landmarks. Karun Nair didn’t do anything fancy while celebrating and just raised his bat to the crowd and his colleagues in the dressing room. Watch it here:
