India vs England 2016: Injury puts Ajinkya Rahane in serious doubt for the ODIs and T20Is

Team India suffered a big blow when Ajinkya Rahane was ruled out of the Test series just a day before the ongoing fourth Test of the 5-match series against England. Ajinkya Rahane suffered an avulsion fracture on his right index finger after getting hit by a bouncer during a practice session on the eve of the Mumbai Test. Rahane hasn’t been in the best of form but he is a class batsman and his exclusion from the side came as a big blow because it only meant more inexperience in the middle-order.

Now it has also been revealed that Ajinkya Rahane might also miss the 3-match One Day International (ODI) series against England.

According to reports in Times of India, “Ajinkya Rahane’s finger injury, which has ruled him out of the last two Tests against England, has also put him in serious doubt for the ODI and Twenty20 series against the same opponents.

In the last 2 years or so, Ajinkya Rahane has been a consistent performer for India in Test cricket and he has made the number 5 spot his own. No. 5 is a very important position in Test cricket because mostly the second new ball is due and the batsman also has to bat with tailenders.
