KL Rahul is one of the most talented young batsmen in world cricket but he has failed to make the impact Indian cricket fans expect from him. He has scored runs, smashed hundreds but his biggest criticism has been lack of consistency. Rahul has been good in patches but he has also looked very ordinary in the middle.
When he is in-form, the Karnataka batter can make any bowler look ordinary. His batting style is a delightful blend of class, aggression, and elegance. He has the ability to dominate the game and make a mockery of bowling attacks on his day. He becomes almost unstoppable.
But, when he goes through a lean patch, he looks confused and clueless. In the ICC World Cup 2019, he struggled to make an impact. He scored runs at the top of the order but he never looked confident and this is the reason why he couldn’t convert his starts into big hundreds.
However, team management and captain Virat Kohli has full faith in his talent and abilities, and this is the reason why they are giving him a longer rope than usual. It hasn’t been easy going for Rahul in the last 12 months or so, but in the ongoing series against the West Indies, he has announced his comeback in a grand style.
KL Rahul is looking confident and playing with a lot more freedom. With Rohit Sharma as his opening partner, he is playing his natural game and the results have impressed one and all. In the second ODI, KL Rahul scored a brilliant hundred and celebrated in the most unusual style.
He simply shut his eyes and covered his ears to mark his ton. He refused to reveal the reason behind that celebrations but as far as we can seem it’s a clear signal to his critics that he isn’t listening to their criticism and he is only focused on improving his game and scoring runs for India.
