After getting snubbed from the Indian squad for the upcoming 5-match T20I series against South Africa, wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson showcased his batting prowess in the ongoing Qualifier 1 game of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens.
Sanju Samson played a quick-fire cameo to help his side Rajasthan Royals register a challenging total for Gujarat Titans. After being asked to bat first, Sanju Samson walked out to bat at number 3 when his side was at 11/1 and started dominating the game from Ball No 1.
Samson formed a brilliant partnership with star opener Jos Buttler and took GT bowlers to the cleaners. Together they dominated the GT bowlers with their aggressive batting, smashing them to all the corners of the ground. Though Jos Buttler struggled at the start of the innings but Samson started dominating from Ball No 1 and went on and on.
Samson’s knock was full of intent and one could see the first in his eyes right from the start. He smashed Yash Dayal for a six in the first ball of his knock and then there was no turning back as he tackled the experienced bowlers including Rashid Khan and Mohammed Shami until he was finally dismissed by Sai Kishore. Samson’s knock of 47 runs off 26 balls was laced with 5 fours and 3 sixes.
Meanwhile, fans on social media were left in awe of the explosive batter of RR. From cricketers and experts to fans, everyone came up with amazing reactions hailing the brilliance of Sanju Samson. Among many, popular commentator and cricket analyst Harsha Bhogle also took to Twitter and came up with an amazing Tweet for Sanju Samson.
In his Tweet, Harsha Bhogle beautifully explained how the T20 format isn’t measured in landmarks like half-centuries but about the crucial performances. He wrote:
“Brilliant from Sanju Samson. T20 cricket isn’t measured in usual landmarks like 50s. It is about the impact you make.”
