IPL 2022: 10 Best Memes From ‘DC vs PBKS’ Match

DC vs PBKS: Despite a good bowling performance that restricted the Delhi Capitals to 159, at the turning, sticky DY Patil surface, the Punjab Kingd were left to rue a disappointing batting performance that saw them fall 17 runs short of the DC’s total and also virtually ending their chances to reach the playoffs.

Electing to bowl first, Punjab got a perfect start as Liam Livingstone, bowling the first over of some off-spin, dismissed David Warner on the first ball of the game. However, Sarfaraz Khan, opening for this game, and number 3 Mitchell Marsh accelerated in the powerplay to make full use of the field restriction despite Warner’s wicket, and took DC to 54/2 at the 6-over mark with Sarfaraz getting out just before the end of the powerplay.

Some tight over to Marsh and Lalit Yadav saw the run rate slow down before the latter was dismissed by Arshdeep Singh followed by Livingstone getting out Rishabh Pant for just 7 and Rovman Powell for just 2.

Mitchell Marsh carried on holding one and got decent support from Axar Patel as both managed to drag Delhi over 150, which some may have felt is defendable given the turning and slow nature of the pitch and upon which Punjab’s aggressive batting approach.

Well, this total turned out to be enough as only Jonny Bairstow (28 off 15) and Jitesh Sharma (44 off 34) scored more than 25 and 7 other battered managed only single figures.

Bairstow started off in his gung-ho style clattering four boundaries and a six before Nortje bounced him out. After that the DC spinners and Shardul Thakur took over using the surface nicely, keeping their ball on length and inviting either misses or mistimed shots from the Punjab batsmen.

Thakur bagged four while two wickets each for Axar Patel. Jitesh Sharma kept some hopes alive with his couple of sixes but it was always going to prove too much for him to do with the failures of others around him.

With this win now, Rishabh Pant’s side has 14 points in 13 games and have displaced RCB at the fourth position in the points table. With their healthy net run rate, a win in their last match is likely to take them through even if RCB who have a poor nrr win their last match.

Memes galore in this exciting encounter that saw some terrific bowling from both sides, some poor batting from the PBKS batters and some comical fielding efforts.

Here are some of the best memes from the DC-PBKS game:
