When Mumbai Indians Got Trolled By KKR For Buying Arjun Tendulkar

Mumbai Indians, which is the most successful franchise in IPL history, having won the extravagant tournament five times, became the first team to be knocked out of IPL 2022. The Rohit Sharma-led franchise endured the worst season in the team’s history as they are currently sitting at the bottom of the points table with only 4 points, having won only 2 games off the 10 games they have played so far.

In the ongoing season, Mumbai has tried several combinations in their playing XI, however, one player who is yet to feature for the side is youngster Arjun Tendulkar. Mumbai had roped in Arjun Tendulkar in the IPL 2022 auction, held earlier this year, for INR 30 lakh.

Throwback to the time, very surprisingly the young talent also a bid worth INR 25 lakh from Gujarat Titans. Even the MI members at the auction table were taken by surprise with Gujarat jumping in for Arjun Tendulkar. Owner Akash Ambani had a wry smile on his face looking at the Titans, one of the two new franchises and almost asking in a funny way that they should let MI have Arjun.

There were some laughs shared between Mumbai and Gujarat members in the auction room. Meanwhile, in an interview, Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene shared his thoughts on Arjun Tendulkar’s debut in the ongoing season. He said:

“Well, I think everyone in the squad is an option. We will see how things go. It is about match-ups and how we can win the matches, and our priority is to make sure that we get the right match-ups. Every game is a confidence thing, we managed to get our first win, and it is about stringing wins together and get the confidence back. It is about putting the best guys in the park. If Arjun is one of them, then we will consider it, yes, but it all depends on the combination we put out,”
