IPL 2022: Jasprit Bumrah Is Getting Trolled Badly After He Went Wicketless Against GT

Jasprit Bumrah is having his worst IPL season since 2015. The Mumbai Indians spearhead has taken just 5 wickets in 10 matches at a poor average of 60. For context, since 2016, Bumrah has taken at least 15 wickets each season and since 2017 he hasn’t averaged over 25 with the ball throughout the season.

And although his economy of 7.93 is good, MI would have wanted wickets in bulk from their senior fast bowler, especially when they have had thin bowling around him.

Jasprit Bumrah had his worst night with the ball of this season on Friday against Gujarat Titans at the Brabourne Stadium when he leaked 48 runs in 4 wicketless overs while tasked with defending a par total of 177.

He had a horrible start against Wriddhiman Saha who clattered him for 14 runs to set the tone of the GT’s chase. Changing his ends, Bumrah met with similar results from Saha, smacked for a six and a four by the GT opener.

With 40 to defend from the last four overs, Bumrah’s two overs were going to be crucial. However, his night wasn’t getting any better. This time it was the pair of Hardik Pandya and David Miller who elicited 11 runs off his over with three singles and a boundary for each of the two batsmen.

20 to save from the last two overs, Bumrah started the penultimate over well, conceding 4 runs in the first four balls. Once again, however, he lost the plot as Miller, expecting another slower ball from Bumrah, lined the bowler up for a heave on the leg side, pulling him for a six and finished the over with a single.

Thankfully for Mumbai Indians, Daniel Sams defended the 9 runs in the last over – he gave away just three runs giving an impressive show of his slower, dipping variations to Miller and Tewatia.

But the five-time champions and the Indian management will be worried about Bumrah’s form this season. He has now had 7 wicketless games out of 10.

This is a cause of concern for the fans who expressed their feeling about Bumrah’s lack of form vociferously on Twitter.
