After a poor start to the ongoing 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League, where the defending champions Chennai Super Kings lost six of their eight games, Ravindra Jadeja relinquished the captaincy position and handed it to the former CSK captain MS Dhoni for the remainder of the season.
On Sunday, MS Dhoni resumed his captaincy duties for Chennai Super Kings and he made a stellar return to the show as the team registered their third win of the ongoing season. Yes, Dhoni’s return as the CSK skipper kicked off on a stunning note as they defeated SunRisers Hyderabad by 13-runs on Sunday.

Meanwhile, talking about MS Dhoni’s leadership, former Indian batter Virender Sehwag shared his experience of working with MS Dhoni and expressed how team India saw a complete overhaul under him. He also believes that MS Dhoni has the capability to take Chennai into the IPL 2022 playoffs, even if the team has already lost six of its nine games. He said:
“I have been with that man since 2005 and I have seen Indian cricket change under him. We used to lose the games we had under control and under his captaincy, we won games in which we were on the brink of losing. We had never thought that we’ll travel to Australia and beat them 2-0 in two finals of the triangular tournament [Commonwealth Bank Series] and we won that in 2008. Especially, after we were beaten in the Test series.”
He added:
“After that we won several ICC knockouts, home series under him, the ones which we used to lose before but they turned into victories. So keeping that in mind, I am saying that it can happen [CSK winning 6 games in a row],”
Well, CSK has miles to go to keep the hopes alive in this season where they are currently sitting at the ninth position in the points table of IPL 2022. Sehwag feels that Dhoni is the man who can script this miraculous turnaround for CSK.
CSK will now lock its horns against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
