This Stat Proves Kane Williamson Can’t Handle Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami has been brilliant with the ball in hand in the ongoing IPL 2022 having taken 13 wickets; he’s been phenomenal in the powerplay: Shami has taken the most wickets- 8 – in the powerplay so far this season at a miserly economy of 8.57/.

One of those was the big scalp of Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson, on Wednesday evening at the scenic Wankhede. But he wasn’t deterred from the fact that Williamson had just flicked his in-swinger to a boundary on the leg side. Mohammed Shami came back with another sharp in-swinger that caught Williamson, one of the best in the world, off guard with his pace and skiddiness.

A beautiful upright seam, jags into Williamson who attempts a lax drive and was beaten through his bat and pad gap. Stumps rattled, Shami and Gujarat Titans elated. Wankhede in frenzy. Williamson helpless.

This further added to Mohammed Shami’s dominance over the New Zealand skipper in T20 cricket. In the shortest format, Shami’s numbers against Williamson read: 11 innings, 53 balls, 70 runs, 5 dismissals; average of 14 and strike rate of 132. Shami has got the better of the Kiwi captain once in international T20I and four times in the IPL. Gujarat banked on Shami’s favourable match-up against the SRH captain, and the senior pacer delivered.
