With Virat Kohli getting the well deserved rest from the limited overs fixtures with Sri Lanka, Rohit Sharma made his captaincy debut. The 30 year old opener who’s popularly known was Hitman was excited to see himself in Kohli’s shoes.

The start wasn’t anything like he would have anticipated as India was made to taste an insulting defeat at Dharamshala. India went down 1-0 in the first game and it would have made Rohit really nervous.

But then action came to Mohali and despite losing the toss India settled odds by returning the favour to the visitors.

India handed over a 141 run defeat to Sri Lanka and the stand in captain came up with an unbelievable double century.

India then won the decider at Vizag too and Rohit’s debut series as a captain ended on a successful note. Rohit Sharma scored 217 from 3 games and at Mohali he was just splendid.

Rohit relishes captaincy debut experience on Twitter

After ending the series on a winning note Rohit Sharma expressed his feelings on Twitter. Talking about his captaincy debut Rohit wrote, “A day that I would remember for the rest of my life. Walking out with the team sheet for the first time was a feeling of it’s own which can never be measured or compared with anything.”

Rohit expressed how it felt as a captain. Now Rohit’s next assignment is leading India in the T20 series against Sri Lanka which begins on December 20.
