It is no secret that superstar India opener KL Rahul, the Lucknow Super Giants captain, has been dating the pretty Bollywood diva Athiya Shetty, daughter of super-star actor Suniel Shetty, for more than a couple of years.
The pair have often been spotted having dates in restaurants and cafes. Over the past year, Athiya had also travelled with Rahul on tours; she was present on the England Test tour where the pair uploaded a pic of themselves hanging out together. Athiya was seen cheering for Rahul from the stands in the UAE during the T20 World Cup and now in the IPL 2022 where the batsman is leading the Lucknow franchise.
Although the pair has never explicitly stated their relationship in public, they have often had romantic exchanges on social media.
Now fans are feeling, their feeling backed up by some reports, that Athiya and Rahul’s wedding is closer than ever and the power couple could finally get hitched by the end of this year. The reports, which started emerging around Rahul’s birthdy on April 18, suggested that the pair are planning on a South-Indian style wedding.

Well, sorry to upset their fans, but, according to a close friend of the actress, both Rahul and Athiya have a busy schedule this year moving forward and hence are unlikely to get married this year.
“It’s not true! There’s no wedding happening this year. Athiya has two projects starting at different intervals in this year. One is for the web domain, the other is a theatrical movie. KL Rahul has the world cup coming up and his schedule is blocked with different tournaments before that. With their hands full, where do they have the time to have a wedding this year?” one of Athiya’s close friends was quoted as saying by Entertainment Times.
Coming to cricket and KL Rahul, the opener is once again in contention for the Orange Cap: so far, in 7 innings, he’s scored 265 runs, having struck one century and one fifty, and is only second to the leading run-scorer Jos Buttler, who has aggregated 375 runs in 6 matches for RR. Lucknow have won 4 out of their 7 matches.
