IPL 2022: Sunrisers Hyderabad have turned around their campaign in some style: after losing their first two matches, Kane Williamson’s team won their next four consecutive games and have sent out a strong message to the other nine teams.
Williamson has brought loads of his Kiwi luck for SRH as he has won all the six tosses, and decided to chase in all six matches. They failed to cross the line in the first two, but the four wins have been by 8 wickets twice and 7 wickets twice, suggesting that the top-order and middle-order all have stood up.
Their latest victory came against the Punjab Kings. The victory was setup by the bowlers as they restricted a power-packed PBKS batting line-up to a slightly below-par total of 151. Senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 3/22 while young speed sensation Umran Malik returned with terrific figures of 4/28.
SRH lost skipper Kane Williamson early this time, the Kiwi managed just 3 runs in 9 balls. However, opener Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi continued in their sublime form, scoring 30s at a rapid rate.
Both the batters got out in quick succession as Punjab threatened a comeback. However, Punjab’s hopes were kept on hold by Aiden Markram (41 off 27) and Nicholas Pooran (35 off 30) and both the batters took SRH home further unscathed.
Umran Malik, who delivered an incredible runless 20th over, was adjudged the Player of the Match. SRH, now, climbed to the fourth spot in the points table, something that looked miles away after their first couple of losses.
