Sri Lankan bowlers would have been excited to repeat their Dharamshala heroics at Mohali. The toss went against India and this could have given the Lankans a further push.

Having lost miserably in Dharamshala, India was already on the back foot but had to bounce back to win the must win game.
Though India lost the toss and was put into bat first, India took the challenge like champions. The stand in captain Rohit Sharma had different plans today, contrary to the plans that the Lankan bowlers had.
Dhawan and Rohit stitched a beautiful partnership well in excess of hundred and saw off the new ball with caution. Once Dhawan got out it was all about a Rohit Sharma show.
Rohit Sharma hit his third ODI double century which is just unbelievable. You don’t make 3 double hundreds in ODIs unless you’re Rohit Sharma. What made the double ton even more special was the fact that it was his second marriage anniversary today and his wife was watching him from the stands.

Rohit’s double ton ensured India a mammoth Total and Sri Lanka was plundered by a hefty margin. After winning Mohali when the team returned to the hotel celebrations were on card. A cake was awaiting Rohit Sharma to congratulate him on the amazing show in Mohali.

The cake was smeared on the stand in captain’s face by his teammates. The top culprits were Yuzvendra Chahal and Ajinkya Rahane who were too excited to paint Rohit with the cake. You got to say that after today’s performance India surely deserved this celebration.
