Hailed as the ‘God of Cricket,’ Sachin Tendulkar is one of the most respected personalities in the world and people around the world have shown different ways to express their love and respect for the master.
Former South African cricket Jonty Rhodes showed his respect for Tendulkar by touching his feet after the Mumbai Indians-Punjab Kings game of IPL 2022 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on Wednesday (April 13). The video of this heartening moment has gone viral in a quick time on social media.
Jonty Rhodes is the fielding coach of Punjab Kings and Sachin Tendulkar is with the Mumbai Indians in the role of a mentor. Rhodes had spent a long time with Sachin when he was the fielding coach of Mumbai Indians.
After the game, when players and staff members of both the teams were shaking hands, upon reaching Tendulkar, Jonty bent down and touched the feet of the legendary Indian batter.
Embarrassed by this, Tendulkar tried his best to not let Rhodes touch his feet but the South African was successful in his goal and managed to get a fingertip on Sachin’s feet. Both of them then shared a warm hug and laughed about it.

Speaking about the game, MI succumbed to their fifth consecutive defeat in as many games and now are the only winless team in the tournament with their chances of reaching the playoffs relying on a miracle.
Chasing the target of 199, MI lost Ishan Kishan early for just 3 but Rohit Sharma started off briskly scoring 28 off 17 before he too was dismissed. Dewald Brevis, nicknamed ‘Baby AB’ took everyone’s attention blasting leg-spinner Rahul Chahar for 4, 6, 6, 6, 6 and ended up with 49 off 25 balls while Tilak Varma scored 36 off 20.
Suryakumar Yadav kept MI alive in the game till the 19th over with his brilliant 43 off 30, but another flop show from Kieron Pollard and MI’s long tail that had Jaydev Unadkat at number 7 hurt them as they lost by 12 runs. If only they had a power-hitter – Tim David or Fabian Allen – on the bench!
