RR vs GT: Sanju Samson Is Getting Trolled On Social Media

After being recalled to the Indian team for the Sri Lanka series – wherein he did well in one match – Sanju Samson is expected to have a big IPL 2022 season to further push his case for India’s T20 World Cup squad.

While his talent, potential and high class have been acknowledged by all, the Rajasthan Royals skipper has been regarded as an inconsistent batter where he starts off in terrific fashion in any IPL season but then his form tapers off as the season progresses, making people question his temperament and consistency.

This year, too, Samson raised a fifty in his first IPL 2022 game – 55 off 27 vs SRH – and then scored 30 off 21 vs MI. But then registered scores of 8 and 13 vs RCB and LSG respectively as doubters once again start to emerge.

He further compounded matters for himself with a run-a-ball knock of 11 runs against Gujarat Titans on Thursday at the DY Patil Stadium. This was when opener Jos Buttler had set up a great platform – 65/3 in the powerplay – for Samson to chase down the target of 193.

Buttler hammered 54 runs off 24 balls to put RR in a comfortable position where they didn’t need to take risks for a while. However, Samson, having struck a six to Tewatia, remained itchy for his slow start and got run out as he took on Hardik Pandya’s arm who was fielding at mid-off for probably a non-existent single. Pandya hit bulls-eye to send the RR skipper back to the dressing room.

This – another Samson failure when RR needed him to step up – has got the fans enraged as while one section demands Samson to be given a longer rope in the Indian team – he averages 14 in 13 T20Is at a strike rate of 121 – while the other reckons Samson has got enough chances and it’s time for the national selectors to look beyond the 27-year-old.

Netizens raised some questions over Sanju Samson while many trolled him heavily over another disappointing show from the RR captain:
