Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are struggling to open their account in IPL 2022, and just when it looked things can’t get any worse than this, their star bowler Deepak Chahar has, reportedly, suffered another injury during his rehab.
We still don’t know the gravity of the injury but if the media reports are to be believed, Deepak Chahar is most likely ruled out of IPL 2022, leaving CSK in a deeper mess.
Deepak Chahar, who is one of the best fast bowlers in India and a very useful lower-order batsman, was training and recovering at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) from past one month, and CSK fans were hoping that he would make a return to the squad soon and help them win matches in a tournament, which is otherwise looking very dull for them.
Deepak Chahar was one of the highest payed players during the IPL 2022 auction, as CSK spent hefty INR 14 crores to bring him back to their squad. And almost every pundit, expert and fan, felt that it was an amount well-spent as Chahar brings a lot to the table with his world-class swing bowling and very useful lower-order batting.
So far, there has been no official statement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), but a back injury would clearly close the doors for IPL 2022, for Deepak Chahar.
However, the CSK team management are saying that they are not aware of the back-injury. But, they also added that he remains unavailable as of now.
“We are not aware of this back injury. He has been working very hard to get back to shape and play again for us. But for now, he remains unavailable”, a source close to CSK management was quoted as saying by Insidesport.in website
