IPL stepped foot in its fifteenth edition (IPL 2022) and has so far been blooming at its fullest swing as the games continue to star a sequence of thrilling displays. However, given the passing of time, many a star are going to burn out in the cricketing sky alongside this year’s contest.
They have served the sport with their utmost and the world has witnessed a tremendous contribution from these monikers in their long span in the sport.
Let’s have a look at 5 cricketers, who, we believe, might hang their boots after IPL 2022.

#1 MS Dhoni
Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been a long-serving moniker of the game and the integrity with which he has served the sport is simply mind-bending. His numbers are just too overwhelming to be refuted and his on-field presence is just too towering to be denied. He has been part of 224 IPL matches from which he has racked up 4838 runs at a stunning average of 39.6 and a strike rate of 135.4. His gloves have also spoken in volume as he has the highest number of dismissals to his name.
#2 Dinesh Karthik
This man has been in phenomenal form so far for the Royal Challengers Bangalore and most importantly, he is still to be dismissed in the latest edition of the tournament. Deployed as a finisher, he is just spitting fire as the Challengers have secured 3 wins out of their first four contests. He has played a total of 217 matches and has managed to rack up 4143 runs at a stunning average of 26.39 and a fine strike rate of 130 plus. He is also the wicket-keeper with the second-highest number of dismissals in the IPL.
#3 Dwayne Bravo
An archetypal face of the perfect all-rounder, Dwayne Bravo has been simply brilliant in the glittering antiquity of the tournament. The Caribbean all-rounder has played 155 matches, scored 1546 runs with the bat at a decent average of 22.74 and a fine strike rate of 130.24. He has also racked up impressive figures with the ball in his hand as he has claimed 173 wickets at an economy rate of 8.37.
#4 Kieron Pollard
The West Indian muscle-man has been plying his trade for a while now and has been absolutely indispensable in the history of T20 cricket. A Mumbai Indians loyalist and a madman with the bat in his hands, he is capable of destroying any bowler on his given day. He is also an electric fielder, especially on the ropes as he can pluck out rippers from mid-air. He has scored 3315 runs from 182 games at an astonishing strike rate of 149.46 while he has also claimed 66 wickets at an economy rate of 8.82. Although, the big mean machine from the Caribbean might prove us wrong, but we believe IPL 2022 will be his last season of the IPL.
#5 Shikhar Dhawan
Shikhar Dhawan will have his eyes on the 2022 T20 World Cup and would most likely call it a day post the biennial extravaganza. He is definitely one of the most successful batters of the tournament and he has been in terrific form throughout the tournament’s span. He has racked up 5910 runs from 196 games at an average of 34.56. He has also stormed up a strike rate of 126.69 which has seen him clinching a couple of centuries. We believe IPL 2022 is going to be Dhawan’s last season, but we won’t mind if Gabbar proves us wrong.
