Delhi Capitals leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav downed the Kolkata Knight Riders, his former franchise, with a brilliant bowling spell that included a four-wicket haul. This is the same number of wickets that Kuldeep took in the entire 2019 season when he featured in 8 games for KKR and when his decline began.
After the 2019 World Cup, he was slowly moved out of the national team and then found it difficult to find a place in KKR’s eleven. In the IPL 2020, Kuldeep Yadav played 5 matches and manage to nip out just a solitary wicket; he didn’t get to feature in the first IPL half of IPL 2021 as Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine became the premier pair, and he was injured for the second half of the season.
What a time to get your 5⃣0⃣th IPL wicket ?

With his career spiralling downward, the Capitals bought him for 2 crore – double his base price – and the chinaman has instantly repaid the faith put in him by the franchise. He has now taken 10 wickets in 4 matches at a terrific average of 11.6.
On Sunday evening, his redemption was complete. KKR were already under the pump as they were tasked with a target of 216. At 117/3, with Shreyas Iyer scoring a fluent fifty, the game hung in balance – before Kuldeep happened to KKR.
After being plundered down for a six by Shreyas Iyer, Kuldeep dragged back his length, foreseeing Iyer’s skip down the track and had the KKR skipper perplexed with a googly and stumped out.
The threat of Andre Russell was still there when Kuldeep returned for his last over. And while he couldn’t dismiss Russell, Kuldeep got rid of others – Pat Cummins, Sunil Narine, and Umesh Yadav – choking up the other end. And despite Russell still there, the game was effectively sealed as the required rate climbed over 18 with four overs and KKR just having two wickets. Kuldeep’s range of emotions were on full display after taking the catch of Umesh Yadav.
Netizens heavily trolled the Knight Riders as Kuldeep ran through their batting order.
