Gujarat Titans all-rounder Rahul Tewatia pulled an MS Dhoni last night as he smashed consecutive sixes off the last two deliveries to secure a thrilling six-wicket win for his side at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Rahul Tewatia gave a perfect silver-lining finish to Gujarat Titans’ innings to help his side extend their winning streak in the ongoing 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.
An emotional rollercoaster, some dramatic twists, and turns took place as the Titans faced an uphill task in the last five overs. Eventually, Gujarat Titans needed 19 runs in the last over with Hardik Pandya and David Miller in the middle.
Punjab Kings’ sensational Odean Smith, who in his debut IPL season, was made the in charge of the ball. Smith started the last over with a wide but he managed to get better of Gujarat captain Hardik Pandya, who was trying to run a bye.
After Pandya’s wicket, Rahul joined Miller in the middle as Gujarat needed 18 runs off 5 balls. The game looked to go in favor of the Punjab Kings.
In the next delivery of Odean Smith, Tewatia got off the mark with a single and Miller hit a boundary off the next ball towards deep square leg. The next delivery was a good one from Odean Smith, Miller smashed it straight back to the bowler and took a quick single. Tewatia was finally on strike, with 12 runs needed off 2 balls. And Rahul held his nerves and smashed two back-to-back sixes to take his side home.
The stylish cricketer has been receiving praises from all corners as he stole a game from Punjab Kings with his short and valuable cameo.
Meanwhile, Rahul took to his Twitter on Saturday and thanked David Miller for taking a quick single, which eventually landed him on strike. He wrote:
“Thanks for the single mili paa”
