Virat Kohli Shares How Will He React If He Wakes Up As Cristiano Ronaldo

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli has often made it clear that he follows football icon Cristiano Ronaldo, whom he considers the best footballer of this generation. In fact, fans have also hailed Kohli as the Ronaldo of cricket because both sporting superstars have similar characteristics: their incredible work ethic, immense focus on fitness and attitude are quite alike.

Ronaldo, the Portugal international who plays for Premier League club Manchester United, is known for his goal-scoring penchant and game-changing ability. Kohli, the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Indian cricketer, is known as a run-machine and was awarded the ICC Player of the Decade and is considered by many as the best all-format batsman.

Recently, in a recent video posted on the RCB’s YouTube channel, Kohli was asked who is his favourite athlete of all time. Without missing a beat, he responded with the expected name: “Cristiano Ronaldo.”

The former RCB captain was then asked what is the first thing that he would do if he woke up as Cristiano Ronaldo. Kohli replied, “I would do a scan of my brain [if he was Ronaldo] and see where all that mental strength comes from (smiles).” This shows Kohli’s admiration for Ronaldo, the achievements that he has had in a two-decade-and-still-going illustrious career.

Further, Kohli was asked about the one game which broke his heart. Virat Kohli seemed to have gotten emotional on that front, recalling the two heartbreaks he and his fans suffered in 2016 – losing the T20 World Cup semi-final versus West Indies and the 2016 IPL final versus Sunrisers Hyderabad. In both the games, Kohli smashed a half-century but ended up on the losing side.

“IPL final 2016 (when asked about the game that broke his heart) and that same year, the 2016 World Cup semifinal at Wankhede against West Indies,” the Delhi batsman said.

Now, for the first time in 9 seasons, Kohli is playing for RCB only as a batter having stepped down as the franchise’s skipper last season. RCB lost their first match to Punjab Kings but bounced back winning a close encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders. Kohli has scored 53 runs combined in these two games.
The Faf du Plessis-led side will take on the in-form Rajasthan Royals for their third game of the season on Tuesday at the Wankhede Stadium.
