After losing the first two back-to-back games against Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants, in the ongoing IPL 2022, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were expected to make it big in their third match against Punjab Kings, however, they were defeated brutally by Punjab Kings at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, on Sunday.
After being asked to bat first, Punjab Kings started the game on a horrible note as they lost their first two wickets with the score reading 14. However, Liam Livingstone walked out on-field and joined hands with Shikhar Dhawan and together they put on 95 runs for the third wicket.

Livingstone played a stunning knock of 60 runs in just 32 balls which included 5 fours and 5 maximums, on the other hand, Shikhar Dhawan contributed with a 24-ball 33 balls.
However, the team went downhill following their dismissal. Jitesh Sharma, who was playing his first game for PBKS, scored a quickfire cameo of 26 in 17 balls. The MayankAgarwal-led side posted a target of 180 runs for CSK.
Chasing the target, Chennai Super Kings failed to fire up as they suffered a horrible batting collapse in the second innings. Ruturaj Gaikwad continued with his terrible form as he was dismissed for 1. Both Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja were also sent back to the pavilion without contributing runs. In no time Chennai was already behind at 36/5.

Later, MS Dhoni and Shivam Dube tried to revive the innings, however, MS Dhoni couldn’t accelerate the innings with the required run rate slipping from their hands. Shivam Dube played a crucial knock, however, he failed to take his side to victory. Eventually, they folded up for 126, handing PBKS a huge 54-run victory.
