Chennai Super Kings opener Ruturaj Gaikwad is having a torrid time with the bat currently as he’s been dismissed for three single-digit scores in all of CSK’s three games so far in IPL 2022. This is completely contrasting to his superb form last season when he finished as the Orange Cap winner.

On Sunday, Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed for a single against Punjab Kings; he edged Kagiso Rabada’s full-length delivery to Shikhar Dhawan in the slip who was waiting for the catch. Ruturaj Gaikwad had started the season with a 4-ball duck against Kolkata Knight Riders when Umesh Yadav had him edging to Nitish Rana at slip with his terrific outswing delivery. Then, in the second game, versus Lucknow Super Giants, the young opener got run out after being involved in a mix-up with Robin Uthappa.

While this horrific start to Gaikwad’s campaign has got CSK and their fans worried, this is not the first time that the opener has had struggle to get going at the start of the season. In fact, even in IPL 2020 and IPL 2021, Ruturaj Gaikwad registered three straight single-digit scores in his first three knocks of those seasons!

However, after those poor starts to his seasons, Ruturaj Gaikwad turned the tide and hit a run of supreme form. In fact, in 2020, he recorded three consecutive half-centuries, he stroked 3 fifties in the next 5 games, and then followed it up with a dazzling century.

Fans are expecting Ruturaj Gaikwad to once again bounce back to the form that he’d displayed last season after poor starts. But, as it goes with social media, even the most loved cricketers get trolled, so was Gaikwad.
