IPL 2022: MS Dhoni Made A Stunning Move And Fans Can’t Keep Calm

After bashing all the doubts about his batting form in the first couple of games, MS Dhoni, aged 40-and-half, displayed his high fitness levels with an athletic run-out of Punjab Kings’ Bhanuka Rajapaksa when the two sides met on Sunday evening at the Brabourne Stadium.

On the second ball of the second over of PBKS’ innings, bowled by Chris Jordan, Rajapaksa, who has been in red hot form, got involved in a mix up with non-striker Shikhar Dhawan and eventually got run out courtesy of a sharp tag-team effort from the Jordan himself and wicket-keeper Dhoni.

A short from round the wicket angle from Jordan was pushed towards mid-on by left-hander Rajapaksa. The Sri Lankan set off for a quick single with mid-on at the edge of the circle and even Dhawan moved ahead a couple of steps.

However, Dhawan retracted himself on seeing Jordan, who is known for his brilliant fielding skills, rush quickly in front of him and pick up the ball, but by then Rajapaksa had run half the pitch down and had to take a u-turn. Jordan picked up the ball and threw it towards the vacant striker’s end, but missed the stumps.

Upon observing the action with his eagle eye, MS Dhoni sprinted towards the stumps. And despite Jordan missing the stumps with his throw, Dhoni had it covered with his trajectory. However, with Rajapaksa coming near the crease, Dhoni decided to cleverly underarm the ball on the sticks lest the batter made it inside.

Bulls-eye. MS Dhoni hit the stumps and saw Rajapaksa just short of his crease; and while the square-leg umpire opted to review with the third umpire, Dhoni’s wry smile told it all that he’s got the wicket.

Just like any other MS Dhoni news or incident, it was pandemonium on social media as fans went crazy, swooning over this superb fielding effort from the 40-year-old former CSK skipper.
