Sanju Samson, the young lad who rose to fame with the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL is most likely to be in contention for the limited overs fixtures against Sri Lanka. The selectors have hinted that Sanju Samson may be rewarded for his rich run of form in the domestic circuit.

He has had a prolific run in the Ranji Trophy and also scored a hefty century against Sri Lanka playing the warm-up game for Board’s President XI. Talking about his performance in the Ranji, Sanju Samson has scored 561 runs in 5 matches in the ongoing season and the selectors are quite impressed by his performance.
Sanju Samson has played one T20 International for India which was in 2015 against Zimbabwe. The selection committee Chairman, MSK Prasad was happy with the youngster’s performance and said that his form brings him to the contention as the selectors are looking for more options. Now it would be interested to see that when selectors talk about looking for options, are they considering an alternative for MS Dhoni or are they just looking for a second option to be there with MS Dhoni.
In recent times Mahi has been pointed fingers at time and again for his place in T20s . Many former cricketers have questioned his place in the shortest format but then other former cricketers and Kohli and coach have stood by MS Dhoni and have backed his place in the team.
Now if Sanju Samson is brought to the squad which he surely deserves given his handsome form then it would be interesting to see as to how the team uses him. Are the selectors eyeing a replacement for MS Dhoni?
