India vs Sri Lanka: Two Main Players Removed From The Squad

Dhawan and Bhuvi released for the second test Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shikhar Dhawan were both instrumental in India’s performance in the first test as India missed out on defeating the hosts by just a whisker. But surprisingly both of them would not be seen in the second test against Sri Lanka.

Both Bhuvi and Dhawan have asked for omission from the second test citing personal reasons. The BCCI has agreed to their plea and both of them have been excluded from the squad for the second test against Sri Lanka. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar weaved magic with the ball and claimed 4 wickets each in both innings, Dhawan played a very handsome knock of 94 in the second innings at the Eden Gardens.

Talking about replacements, Murali Vijay is already there to fill the place that Dhawan’s omission would create. Murali Vijay is a seasoned opener and it was quite surprising to see him sit out for the first test. Vijay Shankar has been added to the squad in place of Bhuvneshwar but it is unlikely that he will get a game straight away. Rohit Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav too would be hoping to get a game.

Bhuvi is all set to tie the knot, while Dhawan would most likely come back for the third test, Bhuvi may have been rested for both the remaining tests as he is all set to tie the knot on November 23. Hence Bhuvneshwar has asked the BCCI to give him the leverage of being excluded from the second test.
