“Life Is So Unfair” Fans React After Mohit Sharma Becomes Net Bowler For Gujarat

Careers in sport are full of uncertainties. One minute you’d feel on top of the hill; the other, down in the doldrums. Such has been the tale of senior pacer Mohit Sharma.

Mohit Sharma, who played the 2014 T20 World Cup and 2015 ODI World Cup for India and also won the Purple Cap in IPL 2014, is now turned up as a net bowler for the Gujarat Titans, one of the two new franchises in the upcoming IPL 2022.

Known for his swing bowling, Mohit Sharma started his IPL career in 2013 with the Chennai Super Kings and bagged 20 wickets in his debut season, paving way for his India debut in ODI and T20I. In 2014, he did even better, snapping up 23 wickets for CSK and ended up as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker.

He picked 14 wickets in 2015 for CSK, before being bought by Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) where he took 33 wickets in the next three seasons. Mohit returned to CSK for IPL 2019 but managed to feature only in a single game, before being bought by Delhi Capitals, and again played in only one match in 2020, failing to impress then. He went unsold in the IPL 2021 auction, and also in the IPL 2022 mega-auction.

Now, after going unsold in last month’s mega-auction, Mohit Sharma has now joined Gujarat Titans as a net bowler. The pace bowler posted a story of Holi celebrations on his official Instagram account recently along with Barinder Sran and Gurkeerat Singh Mann. Gurkeerat is a player of the Gujarat Titans squad, hence Mohit and Sran are also with the squad as net bowlers so is Lukman Meriwala.

Netizens reacted in different ways to the news of Mohit Sharma, who has played 34 limited-overs games for India and an IPL Purple Cap winner, now turning up as a net bowler.

Here’s how Twitterati reacted on the news of Mohit Sharma becoming a net bowler for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022.

Mohit Sharma can still, though, return to the IPL if Gujarat of any other franchise loses a pacer to injury then he can be roped in as a replacement.
