Out-of-favour opener Prithvi Shaw has reportedly failed the yo-yo test, which was conducted at the National Cricket Academy ahead of the upcoming 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. The Test was conducted at the NCA in Bengaluru and was attended by several other cricketers, including star all-rounder Hardik Pandya who had passed the test with flying colors.
As per the reports, Shaw scored less than 15 in his yo-yo Test, falling short of the required target of 16.5. For the unversed, a player has to touch the 16.5 mark in order to pass the test.
However, the fact that he tanked in his Yo-Yo Test at the NCA won’t rule him out of IPL 2022. He is all set to kick off the proceedings for Delhi Capitals with David Warner, who will be available for selection after a few matches.
But his fitness result does bar him from selection into the Indian team. Infact, the report added that Shaw’s fitness is one of the reasons why he isn’t considered for the selection in the senior team. Prithvi last played for India during India’s tour to Sri Lanka. He later traveled with India to South Africa, however, he wasn’t included in the team.
“If Prithvi is not being repeatedly considered, then perhaps his fitness standards aren’t up to the mark, as in what is expected of a Team India player,” a source told PTI.
“These are just fitness updates. Obviously, it doesn’t stop Prithvi from playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL. It’s just a fitness parameter and not the be all and end all,” the source added.
Meanwhile, as soon as the news of Shaw failing the Yo-Yo Test came out, social media was flooded with reactions from the fans. While there were many who cheered for the young talent to do well in the IPL 2022, there were many who started trolling the cricketer left, right, and center.
Upset with all the memes, on Thursday, Shaw took to his social media and shared a cryptic post on his Instagram story where he urged people to not judge him because they weren’t aware of his situation. He wrote:
“Please don’t judge me when you don’t know my situation. You are creating your own Karma,”
