5 Players That KKR May Choose In IPL 2022 Mega-Auction

5 Players That KKR May Choose In IPL 2022 Mega-Auction: The last season witnessed a magical turnaround for the Knights where they went from strength to strength after starting the initial phase of the tournament in a total fiasco.

If there was one thing that was crystalline for the contingency from Kolkata, it was the absence of a decent Indian cricketer. The emergence of Venkatesh Iyer at the top of the pecking order solved one part of the quandary while the middle order still remained empty.

The results were evident in the finale and the second eliminator that witnessed the team getting off to flyers and yet crumbling down like a house of cards once the opening pair was removed.

As the IPL 2022 mega-auction arrives, KKR will have its priorities sorted. They know which departments to bolster to avert the cataclysms that plagued them for the last two seasons.

#1 David Warner:

If there is one thing that has clearly eluded them, it has been a performing captain. Eoin Morgan couldn’t really live up to his billing and his exploits were pretty minimal. The purchase of Warner can solve this matter for the Knights. The Australian southpaw is a fierce striker of the ball and has led the sunrises previously to glory almost single-handedly. He has some neat strokes in his arsenal while his acceleration can bang the bowlers into a retreat. Most importantly, his captaincy intellect can be instrumental in defining Kolkata’s journey to the top.

#2 Shreyas Iyer:

Shreyas Iyer likely to leave Delhi Capitals in search of a leadership role ahead of IPL 2022 - Report, Sports News | wionews.com

It never gets better than another Iyer to bolster Kolkata’s middle order. One of the most versatile batters and a consistent run-scorer, Iyer can also lead from the front. He is an exceptional fielder who would bring reliability to the outfit that was brought in occasional spurts of brilliance from Rahul Tripathi in the preceding edition. He also ensures a slick transition from a cautious middle-order approach to some mindless carnage from Russell at number 5.

#3 Ishan Kishan:

With Karthik and Seifert released into the wild, KKR will need to snap up someone reliable to plug the void behind the stumps. Ishan fits into this role perfectly. However, the most immediate thought that comes to one’s mind is the brutal onslaught that he brings along with himself to the table. He is someone who can bring down entire dynasties with his power hitting and can threaten to take the game away even from an almost ineluctable situation. He hasn’t got much regard for caution. He is the burning embodiment of the torment that as a bowler you are never ready for.

#4 T Natarajan:

KKR was always short of a quality pacer after Cummins left. Mavi chipped in with a stopgap response but never really prised out something significant. Natarajan was allowed to be a part of the auction after the Sunrisers no longer wanted a part of him. His career came to a grinding halt after suffering a toe injury. Natarajan racked up the highest number of yorkers in a single season in 2020. He is someone who can impose a vicious strangle on the batting side in the death overs that can stall a ready supply of runs. He can also provide a couple of crucial scalps at the beginning of the opposition innings.

#5 Kagiso Rabada:

The Hundred 2021 - Kagiso Rabada set to pull out of deal to play in the Hundred

It was surprising, to say the least when Delhi allowed their star express bowlers to depart. Rabada will always be a threat with the cherry in his arms. He can hit the deck hard and invoke some early onslaught. He can continuously conjure 145 to 150 clicks. He can also swing the blade in the end allowing his team to get some crucial runs. He is young, bubbling with energy and will provide you with scalps whenever you need one.
