Watch: Shivam Mavi Taking Revenge After Prithvi Shaw Smashed Him For 6 Fours In A Row

Delhi Capitals’ young and talented opener Prithvi Shaw impressed one and all with his batting masterclass in a match against Kolkata Knight Riders in Ahmedabad. Riding on the performance of Prithvi Shaw, Delhi Capitals won the game defeating Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 wickets.

Shaw smashed his fellow Under-19 World Cup-winning teammate Shivam Mavi for six fours in a row in the first over of his team’s run chase.

Chasing a target of 154 runs, all thanks to Prithvi Shaw, Delhi Capitals started their run chase on an incredibly aggressive note. KKR’s Shivam Mavi became the victim of Prithvi Shaw’s masterclass. In the very first over bowled by Shivam, Shaw smashed six deliveries to the boundary rope. Though Mavi started off with a wide however ended up conceding back-to-back fours on the next 6 deliveries.

Later, after the match, Shaw, who is often compared with Virender Sehwag for his aggressive style batting, revealed that if given an opportunity, he would like to converse about batting with the batting legend Virender Sehwag. He said:

“We haven’t spoken yet, but if I get a chance, I will speak to Viru [Virender Sehwag] sir,”

Having led Shivam Mavi in the Under-19 World Cup in 2018, Prithvi revealed he knew where Mavi would bowl at him. He said:

“I wasn’t thinking anything, to be honest (before facing the first ball). I was just waiting for the loose balls. I knew where Shivam would bowl to me – we’ve played [age-group] together for 4-5 years. I was prepared for the short ball since the first four-five balls he bowled were half-volleys, so I was prepared for one coming at helmet, but unfortunately, he didn’t bowl.”

Further, Prithvi talks about the surface and the game plan on how he approaches an innings. He said:

“I felt on this wicket, especially when the spinner was bowling, it was stopping a bit, and naturally it was going over the offside. So, I was waiting for them to bowl at me on off or outside off so that I can free my hands.

“When I think I’m in good touch and I don’t think about the score anymore. When I’m batting, I don’t care about myself; I just want my team to win,”

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals is now sitting in the second spot in the points table, having won five games off the seven games they have played so far. DC will now face the Punjab Kings in their next match at Ahmedabad on Sunday.
