Madhav Sharma Explained Why Rohit Sharma Is A Better T20 Captain Than Virat Kohli

It is not really easy to say that Rohit Sharma is a better captain than Virat Kohli in the shortest format of the game without being judged in India. However, one of the biggest cricket enthusiasts of the nation doesn’t really like to hold back on his opinion and his devil-may-care attitude gives him the guts to spill out the truth when and wherever necessary.

Without fearing the backlash, Madhav Sharma opened up about yesterday’s game between Mumbai and Kolkata. It was a thriller of the highest order and the way Rohit Sharma turned things around was brilliant, to say the least.

Even when the last five overs of the game were to be bowled and the game dangled overwhelmingly in favour of the Knights, Sharma used his bowling options in stunning fashion, jumbling up things for Kolkata. His field placement seemed picture-perfect and his brazen move of using a slip and a silly point to attack Andre Russell in the 16th over drew countless plaudits.

Kohli, one of the finest batters of the Indian cricket team who is touted to be the one who can surpass Tendulkar’s records, has also been a relatively successful captain in the Indian colours.

However, there have always been questions about his captaincy flair. In pressure-cooker situations, he has lacked the courage to make a few necessary changes that could have changed the complexion of the game. He tries to emulate Saurav Ganguly on the belligerence front, unfortunately, the former was one of the best captains of India and knew exactly how to mix aggression with composure. Kohli is a reactive personality and is unable to bear any word on his performances even when it is down the slope.

He has also been leading Bangalore for a while now without any success when it comes to the trophy front. India has also struggled in the big knock-outs in the recent history, especially whenever the situation has turned dicey and needed a commanding steer from the captain’s mind.

Needless to say, as Madhav pointed it out in his tweet, Rohit Sharma has been an exceptional skipper in the shortest format of the game and the Indian management may now mull over the fact that whether Kohli is doing justice with the phenomenal team that he has at his disposal.
