This Is The Highest Bid Which Maxwell Has Ever Received In IPL

In a morose start to IPL auctions of 2021 which saw almost the entire first sack of players which comprised batsmen going unsold, the real contest began with Glenn Maxwell starting a war in the auction.

In 2020, Maxwell had a pedestrian showdown in the IPL with a paltry 108 runs from 13 matches, shockingly out of which he couldn’t manage to smash a sixer.

Going by the standards of Maxwell, this was not just a below-par performance in IPL but this was woeful, to say the least. However, we are all aware of the fact that with the tournament being convened in UAE, the situation was different and it was not easy to bat in such difficult circumstances.

Though it was least expected that the Australian will fail to start a war after a couple of reticent seasons in the fray, Maxwell proved everyone wrong. In the series against India, the all-rounder posted a phenomenal show which was followed by a few rippling performances in the BBL that saw him destroy the likes of Hobart Hurricanes, Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Sixers.

This led to the franchises starting a war to notch him in their echelons. Last time he was sold for a whopping Rs 10.75 crores to Kings XI Punjab. This time he started piquing the interest of Kolkata Knightriders who started the bidding for the explosive Australian. However, the limelight moved shortly to Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings.

Both the teams who were in dire need of a man who could bolster their middle-order went on all fours to buy Maxwell. After a competitive showdown between the two teams, Bangalore managed to notch him up for a whopping Rs 14.25 crores after a staggering war of 14 minutes.

This could very well be the highest which has been achieved by Maxwell in an IPL auction and is also one of the highest bids which he has ever received in the glittering cricket extravaganza.
