IPL Auction: Rajasthan Royals who finished at the bottom of the points table in the last season have released their captain Steve Smith before the upcoming IPL Auction. They have announced Sanju Samson as their Indian captain. Since 2018, RR has had great overseas players with the likes of Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, and Jofra Archer in the team but their Indian players have struggled in the IPL.
Barring a few Indian players, none of them has performed well in the Auction. RR has released the likes of Varun Aaron, Ankit Rajpoot and even traded Robin Uthappa in the trade window. They need to buy Indian players in the upcoming auction. So, let’s have a look at five Indian players Rajasthan Royals should try to buy in the Auction.
5. Mohit Sharma

Rajasthan Royals have released a couple of Indian pacers, and they would need to buy some in the IPL Auction. Mohit Sharma who was a part of the Delhi Capitals squad in the last season will be back in the auction. Rajasthan Royals have young spinners, and they should look to experienced pacers who have done well in the IPL.
Mohit Sharma is one of those guys who have performed for CSK in the IPL and has represented India in the 2015 World Cup. He bowls well with the new ball and then can bring his variations in the end overs. RR should target the Haryana pacer in this IPL Auction.
4. Umesh Yadav
Royal Challengers Bangalore has released Umesh Yadav, and it would be a great opportunity for Rajasthan Royals to buy him in the Auction. Umesh Yadav has been a great new ball bowler and if used well he can be a game-changer. Yadav is not a death bowler, but he is the perfect new ball bowler.
He can bowl three overs in the powerplay and get those early wickets which all teams want. He can swing the new ball, and he has the pace which can trouble the batsman. Last year Jofra Archer didn’t get any support in the powerplay and Umesh Yadav can provide that support with the new ball.
3. Harbhajan Singh
Rajasthan Royals have three Indian spinners but all of them are leg-spinners. They had Krishnappa Gowtham in 2019, but they traded him to KXIP before the last IPL season. RR needs an off-spinner who can take the ball away from the left-handers and who better than the experienced Harbhajan Singh.
He will not only bowl well, but he can also be a mentor for the young spinners. Harbhajan Singh can even bowl in the powerplay, and he knows how to contain a batsman. His experience can come in handy during the crucial games and so RR should look to buy the experienced off-spinner.
2. Kedar Jadhav
Rajasthan Royals have great top-order batsmen, but they don’t have many who can bat in the middle-order or who can finish off an innings. Kedar Jadhav who didn’t have a great IPL last season did well in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Jadhav is a street-smart player and RR likes to have such players in their team.
He can even contribute with the ball if they need an extra bowler. Rajasthan Royals need a middle-order batsman, and they should look to buy Kedar Jadhav in the upcoming IPL auction.
1. Shivam Dube
Shivam Dube is going to be a hot property in the upcoming IPL auction. Dube has a skill set that is unique in the Indian domestic circuit. He is a seam-bowling all-rounder who can hit big sixes at the end of an innings. Mumbai didn’t have a great Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy but Dube scored some runs in the domestic T20 tournament.
Rajasthan Royals would love to have a lower order hitter who can chip in with a couple of overs. They are reports that if the IPL is held in India then it would be in Mumbai and Pune and Dube have been regular at the grounds in Mumbai. Rajasthan Royals have a decent purse, and they should target this young seam-bowling all-rounder in this IPL Auction.
