Whenever IPL takes place outside India, the atmosphere is always a little bit different. However, this time around, the atmosphere is going to be entirely different because not only is IPL taking place outside India, it is taking place with very strict protocols as well.
Here are the things which will be different in IPL 2020 as compared to the previous seasons of IPL –
#1 Players with temperatures not allowed
Playing with a little bit of temperature has never been an issue for the cricketers in the past. They are physically so strong that they can fight slight fever to do a job for their team, but that won’t be allowed anymore.
The first instance of temperature will mean that the cricketer will have to go into isolation and will have to be tested negative twice before he can be declared eligible to return.
#2 Families might not be there
The families of the cricketers cheering for them in the stadium add another flavor to the IPL games, but that might not happen in the upcoming season of the tournament.
BCCI has said that it would be up to the franchises to decide if they want their cricketers to take their families to UAE.
Given the fact that a lot of cricketers have small kids and they might not want their kids to travel abroad under the current scenario, there might be a mutual agreement between the franchises and the cricketers to leave the families back home.
#3 No commentators at the toss

As we can see in the Test matches going on in England at the moment, there might not be any commentators at the toss and the cricketers might have to hold the mike in their hands and communicate to the commentators looking into the camera.
The commentators will be sitting far away from the pitch and will be asking questions from there.
#4 Use your own kit
It’s very common for the cricketers to use their teammates’ bats or gloves at times, but they can’t do that in IPL 2020. Everyone will have their separate kit-bags and they will have to use their own equipment.
Since surface-touching is one of the most frequent mediums of transmission of COVID 19, it’s wise that that the cricketers don’t use each other’s items.
#5 Virtual press conferences
Allowing the reporters to be present in the press conferences in person will violate the social distancing measures. So, most of the press conferences in IPL 2020 will be virtual press conferences where the reporters won’t be present in person.
The cricketer attending the press conference will sit in front of a laptop and will answer the questions of the reporters who will be connected to the cricketer through a digital medium.
