A left-handed player is often considered an asset for the team. A lot of left-hander players have arrived in style and have conquered the field. Adam Gilchrist, Matthew Hayden, Sourav Ganguly, and Yuvraj Singh are a few left-handed batsmen who mesmerized the fans in the last few decades.
Even in IPL, a few players have absolutely dominated the proceedings since the league was intercepted in 2008. Let us take a look at an all-time XI made up of left-handers in IPL.
David Warner: The former Australian captain has been one of the most consistent batsmen in the history of IPL. He has represented Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the tournament. Warner was one of the early successes of the tournament and scored a century in 2010 hence making a name for him in the international media. He has scored 4706 runs 126 IPL games.
Chris Gayle: The Caribbean legend has been one of the most successful batsmen in the history of IPL. After starting his IPL career with Kolkata Knight Riders he moved to Royal Challengers Bangalore where he established himself as a batting legend. His 175 is still the highest individual score in IPL. He has 4484 runs in 125 games at a strike rate of over 151.
Gautam Gambhir (C): Gautam Gambhir was one of the prime reasons for the redemption of Kolkata Knight Riders as a franchise. His leadership skills also earn him the spot of captain on our side. He started his career with Delhi Daredevils before moving to Kolkata in 2011 and won two titles for the river town. He scored 4217 runs in 154 games.
Suresh Raina: The UP batsman is one of the major forces in the CSK juggernaut. He has been the mainstay for the team’s batting and has also led Gujarat Lions for two reasons. His exceptional batting has made him an IPL legend and he also is amongst the top run-getters in the league. He has 5368 runs in 193 matches.
Rishabh Pant: Rishabh Pant is the youngest player on this list. However, his effect has been such great that he earns a place in the side. Pant has absolutely dominated the batting charts in the past few seasons and is one of the biggest weapons in Delhi Capital’s arsenal. The young wicket-keeper batsman has scored 1736 runs in 54 games at a strike rate of over 162.
Yuvraj Singh: The star all-rounder could not justify his talent in the cash-rich tournament. However, even an out of form Yuvraj Singh proved himself time and again in the league. He managed to score 2750 runs 132 games apart from taking 36 wickets.
Shakib Al Hasan: The Bangladeshi all-rounder played a major role in the success of Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has 746 runs and 59 wickets under his belt in 62 games.
Daniel Vettori: Vettori was on the swansong of his career when IPL or rather the format started to catch the pace. However, the former Kiwi skipper proved himself in the shortest format of the game. He managed to take 29 wickets in 34 games at a staggering economy of 6.78.
Brad Hogg: Bradd Hogg is one of the most underrated spinners in the history of cricket. The Chinaman however played a pivotal role in the success of Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders. However, he narrowly missed on a title with Knight Riders. He took 23 wickets in 21 games in IPL.
Mitchell Starc: Arguably the best bowler in the current scheme of things, Starc played in just two editions of the cash-rich tournament. However, he managed to take 34 wickets in 27 games.
Zaheer Khan: The Indian star played for a number of franchises including Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challenger Bangalore. The World Cup star of India came into IPL with question marks on his ability in the shorter format. However, he soon proved his doubters wrong with a return of 102 wickets in 100 games.
