However, many pundits believe that MS Dhoni is the best skipper in the history of the Indian Premier League as he led CSK brilliantly and he has a brilliant record of 104 victories in 174 IPL matches that he has played as captain in the Indian Premier League. In fact, MS Dhoni is the only captain in IPL’s history to win 100 matches.

But, Gautam Gambhir, who is second on the list of most successful IPL captains, has put his put weight behind Rohit Sharma.

“I think it’s Rohit Sharma. He has won it four times. Captaincy is all about winning trophies,” Gambhir was quoted as saying in Star Sports Cricket Connected show.

Gambhir, who is also a Member of the Parliament from Delhi, believes that Rohit Sharma will end being the most successful captain ever by the time he decides to hang his boots. Gambhir also predicted that Rohit Sharma will end up winnings 6-7 IPL trophies.

“He will end up being the most successful IPL captain of all time as well. He has 4 already, he may finish at 6-7 maybe under his belt,” he added.

OUR VIEW: It’s a tough call as MS Dhoni has a brilliant record as captain in IPL history and he has made CSK one of the biggest brands in the IPL with his effective leadership. But, we can’t disagree with Gambhir that Rohit has won the most number of trophies and he comes across as a captain who keeps things simple in the middle and knows how to finish games. As we said, it’s a tough one, but we would go with Gambhir. Rohit Sharma will end up becoming the most successful captain ever.
